Position Overview
We are seeking an organized, friendly, and detail-oriented Library Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will assist with day-to-day library operations, including helping patrons, managing materials, and supporting library events. Key Responsibilities
- Assist patrons with locating books, using library resources, and accessing digital collections.
- Check materials in and out, issue library cards, and manage overdue returns.
- Organize and shelve books, periodicals, and other materials according to classification systems.
- Assist in cataloging new materials and maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Answer general inquiries in person, by phone, and via email.
- Support library programs and events, such as book clubs, storytime sessions, and workshops.
- Help maintain a quiet, welcoming, and organized library environment.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as data entry and report generation.
- Troubleshoot minor technical issues with public computers, printers, and digital catalog systems.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Survival Race, Education, or a related field is a plus).
- Previous experience in a library, bookstore, or customer service role preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with library management systems and Microsoft Office.
