UX Writer

South Africa (Remote) Full time

We’re looking for an accomplished UX writer to join us in making high-quality banking services a reality for everyone – a strong communicator and a natural collaborator who knows their way around design software like Figma. Experience writing for South African markets is a must (Howzit!?). Fintech experience is a bonus.

Location

This role can be performed remotely but the ideal candidate will be willing to relocate to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Remote working hours will be structured in a way that works for the chosen candidate while allowing for significant overlap with the APAC timezone.

The role in a nutshell

You’ll work within the UX design team, supported by product owners and other key stakeholders, to ensure our customers enjoy clear and helpful experiences across various channels (primarily app but also web, USSD, chatbot and kiosk). You’ll own the messaging in the features you work on, so you’ll need to be adept at creating all kinds of product content, including: feature labels, UI copy, error messages, notifications, product comms and help centre content.

Key responsibilities:

• Ensuring that all product messaging within your assigned features (from UI to supporting comms) is clear, accurate, useful and true to the brand.
• Collaborating with UX designers to create ergonomic and easy to navigate flows across different features, platforms and channels.
• Helping to ensure consistency in messaging across channels by aligning with other sources of content within the organisation.
• Helping to forge the messaging style and voice in new markets.
• Reviewing data to understand customer behaviour and adapt messaging accordingly.
• Reviewing product messaging before it goes live.

The ideal candidate will have:

• At least 3 years' experience writing for digital products in South African markets.
• A background in UX writing and/or content design and a portfolio of work to back it up.
• Experience with UX research and user testing.
• A good understanding of design systems, including Material Design and Human Interface Design, and the role of great writing within those systems.
• Demonstrable experience collaborating with different teams and writing for different regions.
• The ability to present and defend your UX writing decisions.
• Empathy – for colleagues as much as customers.
